"Kanye is getting political. He tweeted, 'My MAGA hat is signed,' followed by 30 fire emojis. Now, that is fitting, because that is how many times I would set that hat on fire," said Colbert, host of "The Late Show." "I think Kanye's lobbying for a job as Trump's new communications director. He could just change his name to Kellyanne Kanye."

Colbert's comments came just hours after the Chicago entertainer tweeted about his love and respect for Trump, whom he affectionately referred to as his "brother" on Wednesday.

"You don't have to agree with Trump, but the mob can't make me not love him," West said. "We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."

Colbert said the tweet was proof that the 40-year-old rapper may have finally "lost his mind."

"Yes, we have the right to independent thought. And I independently think that Kanye has lost his mind," Colbert said. "Yes, it's a total bro-fest. Look for their new album: 'Yeezy and Sleazy.'"

"You know what, Kanye? Donald Trump is your brother, it is true. I'm your brother, too. And, brother to brother here, I just want to say: Put the phone down," Colbert added.

"Things took an even stupider turn,” Colbert said, when President Trump responded to West, saying, "Thank you Kanye, very cool!"

Trump's response came fast, Colbert said.

"I assume because an alarm went off in the White House that someone on Twitter was being crazier than him," he added. "So, congratulations. Congratulations to President Donald Trump on securing the coveted Kanye endorsement. That is not easy to get."

Kanye wants all the publicity he can get. And if kissing Donald's Butt gets him publicity he would do it in a second, even if it is bad publicity.

A few years ago, I had heard of Kanye West, but knew nothing about him other than that he was famous. So I decided to come up-to-date, be cool, and listen to some of his music. What a shock! His songs consisted of the most ignorant, low-life trash I had ever heard, replete with constant n-words and other vile trash.
Since then, I have observed - from a distance - some of his bizarre antics and have concluded that his songs seem to act as character assassination against 'the black community', and that he himself is actually not playing with a full deck.

He's an idiot just saying whatever it takes to stir the pot and drive sales of his product.

This statement applies to either Kanye and Trump.

West is a self obsessed and narcissistic as Trump is so it's no wonder they are kindred spirits. The main difference between them is the scowling West vs. the diabolical smile of Trump. They are both worthless.

  • Weather3014

The personal and negative comments directed at Kanye West because one does not agree with his politics is just mean and childish. If Colbert disagrees with the politics then say it, but the entire comedy act is to belittle Kanye West personally. This is exactly the bullying that Hollywood loves to condemn when it is done by somebody else. Another new low for Colbert and his show.

What a roast...All 500 of Colbert's followers agreed, as opposed to the hundreds of thousands of Trump and Kanye followers who appreciate the respect and love a person can have for someone with differing opinions. Kanye gets it right.

Dragon energy? Charlie Sheen had Tiger Blood and see where that got him. You need to get a shot before it spreads, dude.

West is a sick man, even if he had not played up to toxic TrumPutin, that was made clear many years ago.
What he says is mute, he needs mental help, period.

Colbert, you're a scumbag. What makes you think you are better than anyone else? You're not, climb back under your rock!

  • friar19

Listen, I don't support Trump at all, didn't vote for him and generally disagree most of what he does and says. However, I do not feel right verbally berating people that did vote for him and continue to support him. This kind of brow beating mentality is why we are unable to have civil discourse when it comes to politics. Become entrenched in your camp, in your beliefs and have zero flex and discard the want or need to hear the other person. Both sides do this, liberals and conservatives.

"good boy, good. Let the hate flow....." So by Colbert's standards, who is supposed to be a Christian, you should hate those you do not agree with. While he has never used the word "hate", his actions seem to show a great deal of "hate".

Wow Kanye really is a suck up. His career is fading fast, he is going crazy and he will never be able to keep Kim Kardashians. He will just be another black guy in those girls bonnets. You are a fool man!

In my life as a radio station Program Director, I've had contact with Mr. West over the last 10 years. First, when he primarily known as a producer with a reputation for creating ground breaking music. Then, as an artist with his critically acclaimed first two albums.

The guiding force during that time was his late mother, Dr. Donda West. She kept him grounded and humble. I've always said that just as when Mike Tyson lost Cus DeMato, when West lost his mother, the wheels began to come off.

Instead of taking time off to heal, West continued to work instead of getting much needed help. His behavior has been erratic and his work, with the exception of his album with Jay - Z , "Watch The Throne", suffered. A fashion line that's seen as a joke within the industry and being caught up in the Kardashian Matrix.

West, who once accused George Bush of not caring about Black people, has embraced a man who REALLY doesn't care about Black people. He may've gotten to a point to where he no longer cares about his brand, or, as many in the music industry believe, he's delusional and needs help.

Intolerant Casting Couch liberals like Colbert seem to always want to spread divisiveness.

Although I don't agree with West on many things, it's admirable that he can like someone with whom he does not share the same political views. The intolerant left should learn from this.

  • hkzombie1

Kanye West has always attempted to come across as deep, an intellectual, wise. He named his children North, Saint, Chicago.

  • TexasVulcan

So a rapper with no talent and a President with even less. They deserve each other.

Kanye has mental health issues and has for years. But, then Trump too has mental health issues so they're perfect for each other.

this person is in need of medication,he is calling it my brother,i guess he doesn't know that they only let his kind in the back door of the country club AFTER they do a background check.

  • JuPMod

West have his rights to his views, yes. Yet others have their rights to think he's crazy, a fool, and stupid. West is only doing this to gain attention. That's all. Especially to promote his book. "Look at me! Look at me! Buy my book!" Only his fans continue to love this guy.

  • Realpshep

Kanye, my fellow chicagoan is just on another crazy binge moment from working too long, probably close to dropping an album. Jeezy has said that Bush hates blacks and AIDS was invented by America to destroy gays and blacks...NOW he supports a person like Trump??? Trump didn't even think much of Kanye to meet him in an office....he had a hotel lobby meeting and Kanye thinks that guy respects him? NOPE HE USED KANYE. Dummy

The same people who called Kanye a thug after Katrina and the VMAs are now fawning over him.
